Kaiju as fine art black and white

Inspired by lith printing. Thanks to Gene Nocon and Tim Rudman for showing the way.

Of course, this could be done in the genuine lith printing process, with a digital negative...wow, the possibilities...

Damn, we've gotta hit the darkroom soon.

King Ghidorah's horror movie head shot

Or perhaps we should say, head shots.

This picture goes out to all the horror casting directors in town. Heck, wouldn't you be scared if you encountered these three in a dark alley? It seems to be sort of working, as IMDbeee.com says that Ghidorah is currently in a project called Triple Titans of Terror, which is listed as being in production--and apparently has been since 2017. It also has had four listed directors, BTW...not very encouraging.

Who's happy that Runyon Canyon is open? GAMERA!

Well, somebody's sure glad that Runyon Canyon Park is open again--look who the paparazzi caught running out on the trails!"I can't tell you how relieved I am," said the child-friendly super turtle, "I put on so much weight the last two months, and trying to exercise in place at home over Zoom just doesn't cut it!"

Like we can tell.

Decisions, decisions...

Even the King of the Monsters gets stuck in a quandary now and again.

VIDEO: Moguera's hypnotizing eyes

Careful...those eyes have been known to fry jeeps at 100 yards. (See The Mysterians)

For God's sake...whatever you do, please don't blow this video up to full-screen! We're serious, don't even think of making this bigger! Trust us on this one, you'll regret it for ages--once you see this, you can't un-see it!

We warned you!!!!!

"I've been working on the railroad..."

...OK, maybe not exactly working, and a bit closer to working glamour. DTLA photo session, showing off the guys' (supposed) blue collar roots. Honestly, though, other than promo trips on the skinkansen years ago, neither of them can remember the last time they willingly got on a train--even before the virus.

Gamera's big Hollywood promo piece

Well, it seems that at least one kaiju isn't waiting for Tinseltown's lockdown to end. This promo announcement appeared in all the trade papers this morning, letting every bigwig still in their offices know that Gamera is available for their next blockbuster. Tellingly, the piece was accompanied by an as yet unproven claim: that super turtles can't be infected with the coronavirus. Some insiders are already saying that this looks like a blatant end-run around insurable liability.

One thing's for sure: there's no way that Daiei is happy about this.

Interesting fact: Gamera is apparently represented by a G. Takei at OhMyyyyy Management.

All we hear is Radio Ghidorah

It's an entire Queen cover band in one body. Who knew?

This explains all those charges for karaoke on Ghidorah's Visa card bill.

Watch out, "America's Got Talent".

Moguera & Tachikoma: got your nose!

Moguera is having a surprise encounter with a rather unexpected companion: a Tachikoma from Ghost In The Shell. Meetings like this are rare, as Tachikoma aren't normally allowed by Security Section 9 to wander about on their own--certainly not beyond the realm of anime. Though armed to the teeth with an array of hi-tech weapons, they have the personalities of young children, which explains why this Tachikoma is trying to play "got your nose" with Moguera. As you can see, the Mysterians alum doesn't think this is all that kawaii.

Then again, Moguera isn't exactly known for his sense of humor.

Mechagodzilla was apparently a Venice Beach tagger back in the day.

Down with the hardcore graffiti bros in Venice, back in the 2000s, when it mattered...

Shot with a HOLGA plastic camera, on film...again, when it mattered...

Some of us really are OG, Moguera. Just sayin'.

Godzilla vs. Lebaera

Godzilla is viciously attacked by his insectoid arch-enemy, the deadly Lebaera. Normally content to feed on human garbage and waste, Lebaera is naturally drawn to Godzilla's continuously emitted radiation. He's always anxious to ingest even just a drop of vaunted kaiju blood, which is hundreds of times more potent in mutated erythrocytes than human blood. Worse for Godzilla is if Lebaera is able to deposit any eggs within the innumerable cracks and crevices of his skin, as the larvae which emerge are not only hungry, but also supercharged with radioactive immunity. As he puts it, "picture dozens of tiny little Mothras, and they're chewing away on you, all the time. It's totally gross, and it's almost impossible to get rid of the little bastards. They're worse than bedbugs, I hate them."

Look out above

(DAP) An automatic high-speed camera captures Gamera the flying super turtle, as he hurtles at ground level at speeds exceeding 400 miles (643 km) per hour over Los Angeles, California, on May 12, 2020. Gamera and other kaiju have been spotted with increasing frequency around the city since the outbreak of the coronavirus earlier this year. It is not known if the two incidents are related. Behind the scenes at a photo session

GK: I’m telling you, man, a buddy pic makes sense for both of us!

GZ: Since when? I’m the A-lister here! What do I gain having you as an equal?

GK: Uh, just some classic on-screen chemistry pairing, like Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, or Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy…

GZ: Hah—try Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito! (Ah-nold accent): That’s right, little robot man! This photo session is stupid. Why the hell did I agree to this?

GK: Are you kidding? Do you see how great we look together? Don’t you see that crossover appeal? That international audience?

GZ: …

DIRECTOR: Guys, guys, look…I know we’ve all been stressed like crazy because of lockdown—

GZ: Speak for yourself, little human. I don’t do stress. I cause stress.

DIRECTOR: Yes, I’ve noticed that. However, we’re losing light, and the Sun isn’t union. So…

G & G: All right, all right.

GK: Think about it.

GZ: I’ll talk to Sidney about it.

L.A.'s parks have re-opened - King Ghidorah in Elysian Park

The parks in L.A. have just been re-opened, and true to form, King Ghidorah has returned to one of their favorite spots. It’s one of the city’s many hidden little gems—the secret swing that overlooks Elysian Park. It's far away from just about everything up in the hillsides, so few were coming up there to begin with, even before the lockdown. Only the locals know about this place, and they keep their mouths shut, which makes it an ideal getaway spot for a kaiju looking to relax.

(That is, as long as that fraying rope holds out.)

Early days and misguided ways...

 From the vault.
