Kaiju on the red carpet!

WOW...looks like somebody in L.A. is holding red carpet events, even in spite of the virus-fueled entertainment lockdown. A bunch of our favorite kaiju recently hit the step-and-repeat for a promotional event for this blog, somewhere in Hollywood! It was great to see Godzilla '54, Gamera, Moguera and even unexpected guest Lunamaria from "Gundam Seed" make it down. Here's a sampling from the carpet:

Shodaigoji and Kingugoji getting all chummy.

Gaiking, looking pretty badass in the new armor.

King Ghidorah.

Mechagodzilla head shot.

Kingugoji reacting to fans. He looks to be having a good time.

Gamera, the Guardian of the Carpet.

Shodaigoji, not looking happy at this photographer.

Moguera.

Lunamaria Hawke from Gundam Seed.

OMG, they're doing the shie.

Behind the scenes on Hollywood Boulevard: FANS!

Look what happened during the Godzilla shoot on Hollywood Boulevard...we had fans come buy, asking to take pictures with the Big Guy!

Yes, we're serious! This really happened on a Sunday morning on the Walk Of Fame, some weeks ago.

Yeah, we sometimes ask people if they want to pose with the kaiju, but rarely do we have people coming up and asking us! Trust us, we're flattered!

You'll notice how deserted Hollywood Boulevard is during the lockdown.

And unlike the other guys in costume normally on the Boulevard, he doesn't charge a thing! 😆

Godzilla: the biggest star on the Boulevard

"Yeah, baby--look at it! Check it out! Yep, that's me, folks! Not Mothra, or Baragon, or even Minilla--me, the Big G! How many other kaiju have a star on the Boulevard? Go one, tell me. Tell me. What's that you say? None? CORRECT!"

"Damn, I'm hot! 66 years and I'm just getting started, baby! WHOOOOO!"

The kaiju version of..."The Notebook"???

OK, we definitely weren't expecting this. A bunch of pictures got released today that apparently came from the set of what's being called the Japanese version of the beloved romantic tragedy film "The Notebook". Except it stars kaiju, and takes place in Southern California. And who's in it but our old friends Godzilla and King Ghidorah.

From the looks of the background, it appears that the movie is being shot somewhere in Elysian Park in L.A. If genuine, this is definitely the most unusual twist ever put on a monster flick.

There are obviously a lot of questions surrounding this apparent project. For starters, just what kind of love story is this? Is it a pairing, or a foursome? Is it a transgender tokusatsu one, a LGBTQ kaiju one, or what? King Ghidorah has never been 100% straight (if you'll forgive the pun) about their sexuality in the press, so this could get quite interesting.

BTW, don't go looking for the swing these two were chumming it up on. Word says that it was destroyed during production when Godzilla accidentally let fly a nuclear pulse. That's some awfully potent gas you've got, big guy.

No word yet on any release date, but they're no doubt looking for some buzz at Cannes. We of course will keep you posted.

Godzilla's New Hit Album

What do Paris Hilton, Don Johnson, William Shatner, Jennifer Love Hewitt and now Godzilla all have in common? They’re all celebrities who’ve made the sometimes dubious choice of recording music albums on the side. The Big G recently joined this very exclusive(?) club with his new release, "Godzilla Swings to the Capitol Hits". As you can see, the release party was quite something. Here are some notes from the album's press release:

"First, Jack Webb tried a little tenderness…

Then, Leonard Nimoy sang the story of Bilbo Baggins…

And then, Bruce Willis gave us the Return of Bruno...

Now comes the biggest and baddest star to ever stand behind the mike…GODZILLA!

The King of the Monsters is now the King of Swing! Godzilla destroys the competition with this stellar new  album from Capitol!

It’s the collection of monster hits you never knew you needed!"
